We need to talk.

We need to talk about ethics and sustainability. How can a globalised industry work towards responsible design of consumer electronics?

‘We need to talk’ is an investigation into the discourse of sustainable and ethical design, specifically focused on the design and development of consumer electronics. Centred around the question ‘what can a designer do to ensure their work results in responsible products?’ this project aims to define ‘responsible design’, identify some of the largest problem areas we are faced with in consumer electronics, and explore possible approaches to work towards solutions to environmental, social, humane and ethical problems. The work is firmly rooted in the commercial reality of for-profit enterprises by reflecting on the theory in collaboration with a typical Scandinavian electronics company.
