Beeurban

Bees are responsible for much of the food on our plates. They perform a task that is vital to the survival of agriculture: pollination. In fact, one third of our global food supply is pollinated by bees. If bees didn’t exist, neither would humans. Accordingly, it’s extremely concerning that honeybees have been dying at an alarming rate over the past decade or so. However, research has shown that bees reared in cities are healthier and more productive than bees on the country side. The benefits of bees in cities are many, it has been found that bees are a reliable indicator of how good the biodiversity is. Strengthening local production of honey would therefore have many advantages. BeeUrban is a beehive designed for urban beekeepers. With urban honey production often taking place on rooftops in combination with the inconvenient working hours beekeeping requires, smaller and lighter beehives would be more beneficial.
